SHEN Yajing Associate Professor
Received the B.S. (2005) and M.S. (2008) degrees from Xi’an Jiaotong University and the Ph.D. degree (2012) from Fukuda Lab, Nagoya University, respectively. Before joining HKUST, he worked as a Postdoc at Nagoya University (2012-2013) an Assistant/Associate Professor at The City University of Hong Kong (2013-2022). His research interest is robot manipulation at multi-scale, especially small/bioinspired robotics for biomedical engineering, and intelligent robotic systems for human-robot interaction. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed journal/conference papers, including the top multidisciplinary journal (e.g., Science Robotics, Nature Communications, PNAS), top specialized journal (e.g., IEEE Trans on Robotics), top international conference (e.g., ICRA, IROS), with widely reported by international media, e.g., Associated Press, Thomson Reuters, etc. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Distinguish lecture of IEEE Robotic and Automation society, an Executive member of China Micro-nano Robot Society, China Coexisting-Cooperative-Cognitive Robot Society, and the Associate Editor of the flagging robotic journal IEEE Trans on Robotics (2019-2022). He is a recipient of the Best Manipulation Paper Award in IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Japan Chapter Young Award, the Big-on-Small Award at MARSS, Outstanding Supervisor Award in CityU, the Early Career Awards of Hong Kong UGC, the “National Excellent Young Scientist (Hong Kong & Macau)” for the topic “micro/nano robot”, etc.

YANG Xiong Research Assistant Professor
Received the B.Eng. degree in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from Northeastern University, Shenyang, China, in 2017, and the Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in 2022. He worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at City University of Hong Kong (Jun. 2022 – Aug. 2022) and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Oct. 2022 – May. 2023). He is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include robotics from micro to macro, especially the design, fabrication, modeling and control of miniature robots in biomedical applications and intelligent sensing units in human-robot interactions. ZHANG Tieshan Post-Doctoral Fellow
Received the B.S. degree from Southwest Petroleum University in 2015, the M.S. degree in mechatronic engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2019, and the Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in 2024. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include medical robots and intelligent systems, bio-inspired robots.
LI Gen Post-Doctoral Fellow
Received the B.S. degree from Beijing Institute of technology in 2019, and the Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in 2024. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include intelligent sensing systems and devices for biomedical applications.

YANG Jinzhao Post-Doctoral Fellow
Received the B.S. degree from Taiyuan University of Technology in 2015, pursued the M.S. degree in Aerospace Science and Technology, and received the Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Mechanics and Engineering from Dalian University of Technology in 2017 and 2022, respectively. He has been working as a Post-doctoral Fellow at Sun Yat-sen University since 2022 and is currently a Post-doctoral Fellow at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
